n 2007, SOMO Village became the first One Planet Community in North America and only the fourth in the entire world. We received this designation from One Planet Living, an
international program with the vision of a world where we can live happily within the Earth’s resources. This initiative abides by a ten-principle framework that covers various aspects of social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
SOMO Village has adopted these principles and developed
an action plan to monitor our progress for continuous
improvement and evolution.
